"Simply Divine"...Long time friends, Kristi Gibbs and Kim McMurry set out to open a business together in 2015, which resulted in owning and operating four Pelican’s SnoBalls locations. While they have had great success with their stores, they wanted to diversify into other opportunities. After two years of searching for the right fit, they both felt Kudzu Bakery & Market, with its local following of beach regulars and quality product offerings, would be an instant hit in the Columbia area. Kristi and Kim had shopped at Kudzu in Georgetown and Litchfield Beach for over 25 years during summer vacations, so they had a special connection to the bakery. The next hurdle was convincing Kudzu’s founders, Joey and Stacy Rabon that the Columbia market was the next best stop for a new location and that Kristi and Kim would be faithful stewards of the Kudzu brand.
                                        …..
“We strive to be “Total Kudzu” where you can come in to get an entree, fresh bread, desserts, appetizers, vegetables, and wine to create an entire meal or dinner party. We even carry the perfect gifts for those special newlyweds, hostesses, birthdays or just something beautiful to add to your own home.”
Quality and consistency are paramount in the Rabon’s strategy for Kudzu. The slogan “Simply Divine” characterizes the goal to create products with attention to design and taste. Our bakery items are simple and look like you could have made them yourself without spending time in the kitchen. As proprietors of the Columbia sister store, Kristi and Kim are grateful for the Rabon’s continued support in successfully launching Kudzu in the Midlands.

“We are beyond excited to be part of the Kudzu family and to be able to bring a store to Columbia. The outpouring of love and support from the community confirms we made the right decision, and we truly feel blessed with the reception we have received.”
